Heartopia Beginner Guide — Start Your Cozy Town Adventure (2026)

Complete Heartopia beginner walkthrough: character creation, DG level 1-19 unlock list, first-day priorities, earning gold fast, stamina tips, and unlocking all hobbies.

Heartopia is a free-to-play multiplayer life-simulation game developed by XD Entertainment, released globally on January 17, 2026. Think Animal Crossing meets Palia — you build a cozy life on a charming island with hobbies, home decoration, and multiplayer. This beginner guide covers everything you need to know from Day 1 through endgame unlocks.

Getting Started

Character Creation

When you first launch Heartopia, you customize your character’s appearance — skin tone, facial features, hairstyle, and outfit. All of these are purely cosmetic and can be changed later at Dorothee’s Clothing Shop. Nothing you choose here affects gameplay.

First 30 Minutes

  1. Talk to Annie at the spawn point — she’s the first NPC you meet. She helps you choose a house style and signs you up for the D.G. (Developers Guild).
  2. Meet Bob the handyman — he unlocks Crafting and teaches you to make a Joinery Single Bed.
  3. Craft a Repair Kit (5 Branches from bushes) — use it to fix Vanya’s broken fishing rod.
  4. Catch 3 fish with Vanya to complete the fishing tutorial.
  5. Visit the Town Centre — help Dorothee set up the Clothing Store.
  6. Join the D.G. Member’s Guild via Annie — this is your central progression hub.

Priority #1: Main Story Quests

The main story quests unlock roughly 90% of core features, including all hobbies, the Builder Tablet, and co-building. They also reward essential currencies (Gold, Contribution Badges). Push the main story before wandering off to explore.

D.G. (Developers Guild) Level System

The D.G. Member’s Guild is Heartopia’s central progression system. It gates everything — hobbies, home plots, events, crafting recipes, shops, and quality-of-life features.

How to Level Up

  • Earn Contribution Medals by completing Resident Requests (max 5 per day = 50 medals/day)
  • Requests reset at 6:00 AM server time daily
  • Urgent requests (fire icon) pay 50% more rewards
  • The D.G. system is time-gated — you cannot grind infinitely. Missing daily requests delays everything by 24 hours.

Fried Crucian Carp~200g eachFish at Spring Lake (all day) → cook → sell
Grilled Mushrooms~150g eachForage Penny Bun, Shiitake, Button mushrooms → cook
Daily Requests1,000-3,000gComplete 5 resident requests (urgent = 50% bonus)

Mid-Game Gold Methods

MethodProfitHow
Corn Soup~400g eachPlant corn (12h overnight) → cook into soup
Strawberry JamUp to 12,640g at 5-starGardening Level 6+, use Fertilizer for quality
Fish & Chips~300g eachFish + potato → cook. Set up 4 stoves for batch cooking
Repair & Resell~1,400g profitBuy damaged furniture (~500g) → repair with glue (~100g) → sell (~2,000g)

Quick Gold Run (~15 minutes, 8k-12k gold)

  1. Plant your most expensive seeds at home
  2. Forage all fruit bushes while crafting bait and repair kits
  3. Cook all fruit into jam (4 stoves arranged in a square = manage all at once)
  4. Fish at a prime spot
  5. Sell everything to Albert Jr. in one burst

Golden Rule

Never sell raw if cooking doubles the value. But check your math — a 3-star fish worth 320g shouldn’t go into a dish that only sells for 310g.

Stamina Management

  • Sleep in your bed for fastest recharge (1 stamina per 5 seconds)
  • Cooked dishes restore significantly more than raw food
  • Energy restoration bubbles exist along mountain paths and event areas
  • Plan activities around your stamina pool early on — don’t waste it on non-productive actions

Tool Durability & Repair

Every tool (Watering Can, Pickaxe, Fishing Rod) has a durability bar. When broken, effectiveness drops to near zero.

Repair Methods

MethodCostHow
Craft Repair Kit5 Branches (free)Craft at any Workbench
Buy Repair Kit200 GoldKa Ching’s General Store
Crafty Repair Kit2 Wishing StarsFull repair + possible temporary buff

How to Use a Repair Kit

Equip the broken tool in your hand first, then use the Repair Kit. If you don’t have the tool equipped, the kit will be wasted.

Inventory & Storage

Storage TypeHow to Expand
BackpackVisit Ka Ching. First expansion is free, then 5-25 Wishing Stars. Wait for 60% discounts.
WarehouseFree +50 slots at DG Levels 2, 7, 13, 17, 19. Extra expansions from Ka Ching.

Space-Saving Tips

  • Cook fruit into jam (4 fruits → 1 jar + higher sale value)
  • Store unused furniture in your house or warehouse immediately
  • Sell regularly to Albert Jr.
  • Turn in 5 bird cards/day to Bailey J for repair kits (better than selling)
  • Craft branches into repair kits to free up slots

Daily Routine Checklist

Do these every day for maximum progress:

  1. Accept & complete all 5 Resident Requests (prioritize fire-icon urgent ones)
  2. Check your mailbox for event rewards and friend gifts
  3. Check the Events page (planet icon) for sign-in rewards and freebies
  4. Tend your garden — harvest, replant, water, fertilize immediately after planting
  5. Find Oak-Oak for 3x Roaming Oak Timber (daily spawn, random wild areas)
  6. Find Flawless Fluorite for 3x Fluorite (daily spawn, check player gardens)
  7. Mine Rare Timber from 8 Giant Trees around town (once daily)
  8. Visit shops — furniture and clothing restock daily
  9. Spend time on hobbies — cooking is your primary gold engine
  10. Forage and collect — grab all fruit, branches, mushrooms as you travel

Multiplayer: How It Works

  • Up to 11 other players visible at any time
  • Unlock the Friendship Journal at DG Level 4
  • Add friends via UID (costs 1 Wishing Star to send a request)
  • Visiting a friend’s town is free
  • Coffee Umbrellas — chat freely with up to 3 others, play puzzles or fishing mini-games
  • Co-Build unlocks at DG Level 8 — build together in real-time
  • Chat is only with confirmed friends — no forced public chat
  • Cross-platform: mobile and PC players play together (data syncs across devices)

Common Beginner Mistakes

  1. Skipping daily requests — you can’t catch up; every missed day delays all unlocks by 24 hours
  2. Selling raw instead of cooking — raw crops and fish sell for pennies; cooked dishes sell for hundreds
  3. Wasting repair kits — always equip the tool you want to repair before using a kit
  4. Buying expansions at full price — wait for Ka Ching’s 60% discount rotation
  5. Not using a vehicle — you start with a free scooter; it cuts travel time in half
  6. Ignoring the weather — meteor showers and rainbows spawn rare resources and unlock Doris
  7. Fishing randomly — target specific locations, times, and weather for valuable catches
