Heartopia has 7 hobbies that form the core gameplay loop. Each hobby is unlocked with a Hobby Expansion Ticket earned from DG level-ups. This guide covers the best unlock order, how to level up each hobby, and profit strategies.

How It Works
Equip your fishing rod, find a body of water, and cast. Different fish spawn at different locations, times, and weather conditions.

- Crops don’t die without water — growth just pauses

How It Works
Use stoves to combine ingredients into dishes. Cooked dishes sell for 3-10× the raw ingredient value. This is the single best money-maker in Heartopia.

- Cook identical mushrooms together (4 Oyster Mushrooms) to unlock secret recipe variants
- Massimo sells Milk (200g) and Matcha Powder (300g) — key for premium recipes
- Grass Cake: Wheat + Milk + Matcha Powder + Weed

Insect Catching

How It Works
Spot birds in the wild and collect bird cards. Each bird species has its own card.
Bird Card Turn-In
- Give 5 bird cards/day to Bailey J
- Rewards: Repair Kits and crafting materials
- This is the primary reason to do Birdwatching — free repair kits
Birdwatching Event
- Nest of Hundreds unlocks at DG Level 8 (requires Birdwatching)
- Special event with unique rewards
Upgrade Priority: #7 (Last)
Birdwatching has the least economic value. Turn in your 5 daily cards for repair kits, but don’t invest upgrade tickets here until everything else is maxed.
Cat Caring
Mentor: Mrs. Joan
Unlock: DG Level 12 (first of two tickets at this level)
Upgrade: Hobby Upgrade Tickets + proficiency
How It Works
Adopt a cat from Mrs. Joan’s Pet Shop. Feed, play with, and train your cat daily. Each interaction earns gold and items — rewards arrive in your mailbox the next day.
Cat Care Tips
- Feed daily for consistent gold rewards
- Pet costumes available at Mrs. Joan’s (Hip Hop Set, Banana Head added March 2026)
- You must unlock Cat Caring before Dog Caring
