Heartopia is a shared world where up to 11 other players can be visible at any time. This guide covers every multiplayer feature — from adding your first friend to building a house together.
How Multiplayer Works
- Up to 11 other players are visible in your world at any time
- Players appear as they go about their own activities — fishing, gardening, exploring
- Chat is only with confirmed friends — no forced public chat with strangers
- The world feels alive but never overwhelming
Friendship Journal
Unlocked at DG Level 4. This is your friends list and the hub for all social features.
How to Add a Friend
- Open your Friendship Journal from the smartwatch
- Enter your friend’s UID (unique player ID)
- Sending a friend request costs 1 Wishing Star
- Once accepted, your friend appears in your journal
Friend Benefits
- Visit each other’s towns for free
- Send gifts while a friend is offline (they arrive in their mailbox)
- Co-Build together (DG Level 8+)
- Chat freely anywhere
How to Find Your UID
Your UID is displayed in the Friendship Journal and in your smartwatch settings. Share it with friends so they can add you.
Visiting Friends
- Open your Friendship Journal
- Select a friend who is online
- Choose “Visit Town”
- You’ll teleport to their world
While visiting, you can explore their home, see their decorations, and interact with their town. You can’t modify their home unless they grant you Co-Build permissions.
Coffee Umbrellas
Coffee Umbrellas are designated social spots scattered around Heartopia. They’re marked with a coffee cup icon.
What You Can Do at Coffee Umbrellas
- Chat freely with up to 3 other players at the same table
- Play puzzles together — cooperative mini-games
- Sea-faring fishing quests — launch fishing trips together
- Relax and take photos
Coffee Umbrellas are the primary way to socialize with players who aren’t on your friends list. Sit down at an open table and see who joins.
Co-Building
Unlocked at DG Level 8. Build together with a friend in real-time.
How to Start Co-Building
- Create a dedicated blueprint slot for co-building (never use your main house slot)
- Open your Friendship Journal and select a friend
- Choose “Invite to Co-Build”
- Grant build permissions on the dedicated slot only
Co-Build Safety Rules

What You Can Do Together

Party Feature
Unlocked at DG Level 10. Host gatherings at your home.
How to Host a Party
- Open your smartwatch and go to the Party menu
- Choose a party type (casual, themed, etc.)
- Invite friends from your Friendship Journal
- Friends teleport to your home
Party Activities
- Chat and socialize
- Show off your latest home build
- Play music if you have instruments
- Host a Tea Party — no DG level required, host from home
Sea Fishing with Friends
Unlocked at DG Level 7. Bill’s boat can take you and your party out to sea.
- Talk to Bill at Fishing Village docks
- Choose Sea Fishing Event
- Invite friends from your party
- Costs 2,000 Gold per session (3,000 for repeats)
- Catch rare high-value fish together
- Complete group goals for Gatcha Eggs
Cross-Platform Play
Heartopia supports full cross-platform play between mobile and PC:

Cross-Platform Facts
- Mobile and PC players share the same servers — you can play with anyone regardless of their device
- Progress syncs across devices — log in on PC, continue on mobile, all progress is saved
- Steam is region-locked for China — Chinese IPs cannot access Heartopia on Steam. Use the mobile version instead.
- Use the same account to log in on any device
Chat System
How Chat Works
- Chat is only enabled with confirmed friends
- No public global chat — you won’t see messages from strangers
- At Coffee Umbrellas, you can chat with up to 3 table-mates
- During co-building, chat is always available with your building partner
Emotes & Expressions
- Unlocked at DG Level 3
- Purchase from Annie (basic emotes) and event shops (limited emotes)
- Use emotes to communicate without typing
- The March 2026 update added a “tap to get attention” feature
Multiplayer Etiquette
- Ask before visiting — a quick message before dropping into someone’s town
- Don’t touch without permission — never interact with another player’s furniture or crops unless invited
- Respect co-build boundaries — if you’re given build permissions, stay within the agreed scope
- Tip your host — if someone hosts a great party, send a small gift afterward
- Coffee Umbrellas are public spaces — be friendly to strangers who sit down
